Hello everyone,

This is a brief description of the concept of Shared Cloud Hosting, developed by Single OS LLC and Fuscan Linux Cloud.

What this has got to do Host Color?

1. As some of your might know, my name is Dimitar and me and my partner Alexander I co-founded Host Color e decade ago. Since 2006 I started a few new enterprises. One of them, the most successful one actually, has been launched at the end of 2008. It is Single OS, a producer of enterprise automation software solution for the hosting industry.

Fuscan Linux Cloud is a proprietary technology of this company.

2. The other reason to start this thread is that Host Color is launching cloud hosting services based on Fuscan LBC (see their thread "Host Color is preparing to move to the Clouds"). So I got permission to briefly explain the advantages of the Fuscan LBC Cloud platform (Shared Cloud Hosting) that Host Color is currently deploying.

A Cloud Or Just Virtualization?

When you see some of the "major clouds" advertising their cloud hosting services, you should keep in mind that most of them offer virtual instances (Virtual Private Servers). They use different approaches to virtualize server farms and to create virtual instances. On an infrastructural level such IT hosting systems might be or might not be fully redundant, scalable and highly available.

You probably would be surprised to find out that many companies, including Amazon EC2, which is pioneer in "Cloud computing", resolve problems with flexibility, but not with high availability and redundancy. Other so called "Clouds" (I'm not posting names because this might be considered as improper) just claim to provide Cloud hosting. For example there are a few popular web hosts that claim to offer Cloud hosting, although they provide nothing but Virtual Private Server Hosting.

So, if you are looking for Cloud hosting, make sure that you are offered a scalable IT hosting, provided by fully redundant and highly available, clustered and load-balanced system of servers... not just virtual instances (VPS, VE's VDS or whatever it might be named).

Shared Cloud Hosting?

"Shared Cloud Hosting" is a cloud hosting infrastructure (a model of cloud computing architecture) which makes it possible for hosting providers to offer Shared Hosting on the Cloud. The most important thing is that Shared Cloud Hosting makes it possible for site owners to move to a Cloud very easily, without having to deal with a management of virtual instances or any kind of "cloud instances". There are two important things about Shared Cloud Hosting system:

• Web Hosts build in-house infrastructure, or get it on an IaaS base, a system of servers powered by SingleOS's Fuscan LBC enterprise automation platform.
• Website owners just use a scalable hosting service powered by a fully redundant clustered server infrastructure.

The most important thing of Fuscan LBC (Host Color's customers shall take a huge advantage of it) is that it is a high availability system for cPanel and WHM. This means that:

1. Site owners use cPanel on the Cloud, without dealing with server or VPS management They:

• Enjoy all advantages that Cloud computing provides, but do not deal with the Cloud management.
• Save money and time on server management (system administration), on software licenses and are not responsible for the uptime of their Cloud account (as long as they do not take it down by themselves).
• Get Cloud Reseller Hosting through cPanel's Web Host Manager (WHM) and need to use only WHM to manage their Reseller Cloud
• Get all resources they need instantly and pay a less (depends of web host's policy) for those resources

2. Web hosts do not change their business model. They:

• Just upgrade it by purchasing the recommended hardware.
• Use a standards based Cloud (RHEL)
• Pay less to scale out the Cloud infrastructure
• Significantly reduce downtime because all the servers are part of a load-balanced cluster
• Save up to 25% on software licenses
• Choose between 2 infrastructure models that Fuscan LBC supports - system build on physical machines or on virtual instances
• Save huge amount of financial and human resources to buy virtualization software licenses and to maintain them.

In brief, what Fuscan Linux Cloud does (and what Host Color ought to present soon) is: A Shared Cloud Hosting - High Availability system fully automated with cPanel/WHM which allows web hosts to create in-house Clouds and to offer dynamically scalable hosting services from a fully redundant clustered infrastructure.

Fuscan Linux Cloud platform is more affordable for users and hosting providers compared to other clouds, heavily advertised on the web. It resolves many problems that small and middle-sized web hosts and their customers currently experience.
