Change username of a cPanel hosting account?
« on: August 14, 2010, 07:07:24 AM »

I decided to open this thread because we get a lot of questions from customers who ask how to change their cPanel accounts username. Please follow the link - "How can I change a cPanel username?" - to get an answer.

The answer is that there is no such functionality in cPanel. The "username" is tied with the website. So the only option is to open a new account, to migrate everything from the old one and then to close it.

My advise is not to do this to yourself!

That is why it's crucial that customers must pick a good username when they signup for a new hosting account. The CPanel username is considered as one of the identifiers used exhaustively by the system to associate all websites/related objects to the respective user account.
