Control Panels?
« on: October 27, 2009, 02:01:01 PM »

Hello,

As you know Host Color offers 3 different web hosting automation software (Control Panels) with our VPS Hosting services. The most popular are cPanel and Plesk. As you probably know we also offer our own web hosting automation solution called NextColor.

Please vote for the solution you like more and tell us why.

I personally prefer cPanel because of the ease of use.  It also helps that for the most part it's been the standard within the industry for quite a while.  Of course, as with most people, being comfortable with a piece of software is always nice!

Each control panel has it's merits of course but, i personally would say that both Plesk and cPanel are equally easy enough to use but cPanel is more standard as mentioned above, as well as the setup of the control panel out of the box is easier as well.

All tho Plesk might not have as much explanations and choice of configuration for the software you will be using it is easy enough to use ;) and it is also a parallels product and integrates with the parallels infrastructure manager which we use for the Virtualization management and the framework of VPS creation and maintenance within the company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtualization) and might work well with the load balancing and performance better than cPanel.

On the other hand cPanel has released a full fledged installer optimized for VPS servers which is equal to the above performance to a certain extend.

I have to say cPanel because it's the only one I've ever used  :D

I found it very easy to learn in a short time how to use it.

I have been using webmin for a year now and its really good! It can be really difficult for newbies to get used to its interface but once you get familiar it feels good. Offers customization at every possible level. But it can really bring your machine down to crawling if you enable options for monitoring bandwidth and other things.

I am looking forward to use cPanel now. I hope it wont be a pain to switch to cPanel!
